School nurses assess the health needs of students and collaborate with family, school staff, physician and community to provide a comprehensive school health program that facilitates the maximum educational opportunity for the individual.
**ALLERGY ALERT**
Newtown Elementary is a peanut/nut smart/safe school. Please see allergy alert link on health services website for more information.
We are also a Latex Aware school. NO LATEX BALLOONS.
Since the information included on the Home Access Center is essential for maintaining contact with parents and guardians, it is recommended that parents and guardians update information promptly. Please make sure that cell phone #'s, home #'s and work #'s are correct.
Emergency Care
The school nurse is responsible only for the emergency care of injuries and sudden illness that occur while the student is in school. The nurse is not available to diagnose or treat students who come to school with prior injuries or illnesses except in special cases under medical care and with the physician’s written orders. Except for unusual or emergency circumstances, parents are responsible for transporting the ill or injured student to his/her home, the doctor or the hospital.
