Dear Class of 2020 Students and Parents,

Although nothing can adequately replace the traditional rites of passage that mark a Council Rock North student's senior year, as a district, we are yet planning a series of celebratory ceremonies and activities that both recognize our seniors, while also keeping them and their loved ones safe and healthy.  After much research and deliberation among involved parties, the following decisions have been made.

A virtual Graduation Ceremony will take place on June 15.  This will mirror the traditional ceremony, complete with music; announcement of class scholars, officers, and each graduate's name; student speeches; and conferral of diplomas. Caps, gowns, tassels, and cords, as well as programs, will be distributed in advance. Following the ceremony, we are also planning a community  "Clap-Out" honoring our seniors, whose homes will be identified by personalized lawn signs jointly sponsored by the Council Rock Education Foundation and Council Rock School District.

A virtual Senior Recognition Night Program, recognizing seniors for academic and extracurricular excellence, as well as awarding local scholarships, will be broadcast in the days before the Graduation Ceremony.

Senior Dues will be waived for all families - these traditionally cover the cost of Yearbook, Cap and Gown, and Senior Panoramic Photograph.

The Yearbook (including Senior Superlatives), awards, and diplomas will be distributed to families at a time yet to be determined.

A follow-up, in-person gathering of some type will take place when safe to do so.  This could be a re-creation of the Graduation Ceremony, a class picnic, or another gathering - input from our graduates and their families will be sought.

Again, we are acutely aware that nothing we can do will adequately replace our traditional ceremonies.  But we yet hope that the activities described above will bring a measure of peace and satisfaction as CR Celebrates the Class of 2020 during this unprecedented time.

    Sincerely,

    Susan McCarthy
