Dear Second Grader,
I hope that you have been enjoying your summer. I am having a fantastic summer! I've been spending time with my family and friends and going to fun places. My son, Ben, will be 7 in September and he will be in first grade. My daughter, Madelyn, will be 3 in September and she will be starting preschool. We have been busy swimming, boating, going to Sea Isle City, Ocean City, and playing at home. I'm sure you've been having a lot of fun playing with friends this summer.
I'm looking forward to meeting you and having you in my class! This year will be full of making new friends, learning experiences and discoveries. You will do a lot of reading and writing. In science, you’ll learn more about insects, balancing and weighing, as well as solids and liquids. You will also publish writing pieces this year. In math, you will become a strong problem-solver and we will learn all about our new math program, Bridges.
Enjoy the rest of your summer! Our first day of school is Tuesday, September 3, 2019. I'll meet you in the cafeteria and walk you back to our classroom, B-12! Please bring your supplies (listed on Hillcrest’s website) during the first days of school. If your items are too heavy, they can be dropped off on the first days of school in the office and someone will be more than willing to help.
