•        Welcome to B-19 and Hillcrest Elementary.  My name is Rachael Gallagher and I am happy to be your child's teacher for the 2015-2016 school year.  We have a very busy year ahead of us and I am excited to get started in a couple of weeks!  
          I attended Holy Family University where I graduated with a dual major in Elementary and Special Education.  I also have completed a Master's Degree from Holy Family University in Advanced Special Education.  I recently received my certificate in ABA from Arcadia University.         
           I began teaching 7 years ago at Hillcrest Elementary in the intermediate Life Skills Support classroom.  I had the pleasure to teach this group of students for 2 years including ESY.  I also taught ESY for 5 years.  I spent this summer bonding with my baby, Danny.  We enjoyed many firsts (first time at the beach, first time at the zoo, first time eating ice cream) and had a great summer.
            I have been planning and preparing for the start of the school year throughout the summer.  We will have cooking and art projects.  A large group handwriting class will take place once a week.  We will work on communication and social skills along with functional academics of Language Arts and Mathematics.  We also have a SMART board in our classroom to incorporate technology daily!  We will participate in Community Based Instruction and apply what we learn in the classroom in real life settings.  We will also go swimming once a week toward the second half of the year. 
           I will be sending a home/school folder and communication book home the first day of school.  This will travel back and forth from school and home each day.  The communication book allows us to communicate on a consistent, daily basis.
