Varsity Head Coach Heather Whalin is in her twelfth season at the helm of the CR North hockey program, but is actually in her 11th year of coaching field hockey. In her tenure as head coach, she has won 3 SOL Championships in a row, was named Philadelphia Inquirer “Coach of the Year” in 2010; where the team made it to the quarterfinals of the PIAA State Tournament. Coach Whalin attended Triton Regional HS in New Jersey where she was a 3-sport athlete in field hockey, basketball and softball.
Ms. Whalin attended college at TCNJ where she played goalie for both the field hockey and lacrosse teams. While at TCNJ, her teams won 3 NCAA Division III National Championships in lacrosse and runner-up in the NCAA Division III Field Hockey Championships. She was named 3rd-team All-American in lacrosse and was named to the 1998 All-NCAA Tournament Team. She contributed to the Lions setting an unbeaten streak record in lacrosse (102 games) with her final college record of 60-1-0.
Prior to her assuming her duties at North, Ms. Whalin coached the Burlington City HS hockey program for 4 years. In her first year as head coach, the team made the NJSIAA State Playoffs for the first time since 2000. She continues to coach softball at BCHS where her teams have earned 8 appearances in the NJSIAA State Tournament and she earned her 100thwin last season.
Coach Whalin also coaches indoor field hockey for the Mystx Field Hockey Club (11 years). Her teams have won numerous USA Field Hockey Festival and USA Field Hockey Indoor National Championships, which many North players were a part of the championship teams.
Fun Facts:- Coach Whalin resides in Mount Laurel, NJ.- She loves the beach and everything that goes along with it.- Coach was “pre-med” in college, but decided to switch to English as her major in order to become an English teacher (what?)- She has been teaching at BCHS for 14 years and was named “Teacher of the Year” in 2007. She teaches Honors American Literature and is the Yearbook advisor.Varsity Assistant Coach: MS. JULS SINGERAssistant Varsity Coach Juls Singer is entering her first year of coaching for Council Rock North Field Hockey. The current shut-out record holder at CR North with best friend and other assistant coach Theresa Delahanty (Defender, Lafayette '19). Jules was a goalkeeper at North for 4 years before continuing her play at Ursinus College. At Ursinus, Jules won 2 Centennial Conferences, along with going to the Final Four and Elite Eight. Jules' senior year she received national and conference honors as Defender of the Week. Jules earned her Bachelor's degree in Applied Economics with a concentration in Finance and Accounting and Psychology.Junior Varsity Coach: MS. KIMBERLY MCKENNAEmail: KMcKenna@crsd.orgJunior Varsity Coach Kimberly McKenna is entering her eigth year as junior varsity coach for Council Rock North Field Hockey. Ms. McKenna looks to continue the Lady Indians tradition on and off the field.
Prior to joining the Council Rock coaching staff, Ms. McKenna was an assistant coach for two years for the Lower Moreland Field Hockey team. Throughout her coaching career she has taught and coached a variety of different aspects of the game. Primarily a goalie coach, Ms. McKenna also helped with other areas of the field working at both the varsity and junior varsity levels.
Ms. McKenna attended Lower Moreland High School where she played 3 years as the varsity starting goalie on the field hockey team. In her senior year she had thirteen shutouts and holds the record for the most shutouts for Lower Moreland. In 2009 she graduated from Lock Haven University where she earned her teaching degree in Health and Physical Education. She then recieved her Masters in Education from Cabrini College in 2011. She has a great passion for the game and is very excited to have the opportunity to coach at Council Rock North.Athletic Director: MR. ROB FINDLAY
