The focus of the sports medicine program is the health and well being of the student athlete. Through the recent renovations, the Athletic Training Room has evolved into one of the best secondary school facilities around. The Athletic Training Room is 700 square feet and consists of a rehabilitation area, whirlpool room, and administrative office. The layout of the new room allows space for a host of rehabilitation activities. The room is located in the hallway just outside of the locker rooms in the lower level of the school.
The state-of-the-art theraputic modalities equipment available in the athletic training room includes electric muscle stimulation machine with many different electrical stimulation currents, ultrasound, hydrocollators for moist heat, cold circulating units, whirlpools, and ice.
The facility also boasts a wide array of rehabilitative equipment including: a multiaxial ankle machine, an Elgin ankle machine, cuff weights, dumbbell weights, B.A.P.S. board, Bodyblades, resistive bands, a stationary bike, swiss balls, medicine balls with a plyo-back trampoline, incline board, as well as Life Fitness and Hammer Strength equipment in the newly renovated weight room on the main gym level. The weight room also has a nice selection of cardiovascular machines that include treadmills, upright stationary bikes, recumbent stationary bike, and an elliptical machine.
