Dear Fifth Grade Families,
Fifth grade is an exciting time for children.  There are many new concepts to learn and many memories to make that will last a lifetime.  Fifth grade is also the time when expectations begin to rise and when the children need to see themselves as responsible, organized  students.
This year will be very different-at least for now.  Please know that I realize that everyone has different home circumstances right now and the next few months are going to be challenging for all of us.  I want you to know that I am dedicated and excited to make this work.  Please feel free to communicate with me often as we navigate this together.
As a part of a classroom family,  I will insist on behavior that is respectful and kind.  Accepting each other for who we are and appreciating all the differences that we have is the single most important element in my classroom and I will expect it on a daily basis.  Anything less will require parent and teacher collaboration so the problem can be solved effectively and quickly.
I appreciate your support with these expectations and I am looking forward to a great year.
