Our first science kit of the year is called Air and Weather.

Your child will be able to:

    ·         Understand that air takes up space.

    ·         Understand that air interacts with objects.

    ·         Understand that air resistance affects how things move.

    ·         Understand that air is all around objects.

    ·         Understand that pressure from compressed air can move things.

    ·         Understand that air is a gas.

    ·         Understand that weather is the condition of the atmosphere and changes over time.

    ·         Understand that temperature, precipitation, and cloud times are components of the weather that can be described.

    ·         Understand that meteorologists are scientists who study weather.

    ·         Understand that there are different kinds of clouds.

    ·         Understand that rain is water that comes from clouds.

    ·         Understand that wind is moving air.

    ·         Understand that wind speed is a component of weather that can be described by an anemometer.

    ·         Understand that wind direction is a component of weather that can be described using wind vanes.

    ·         Understand that wind scales are tools used to describe the speed of the wind.

    ·         Understand that weather conditions change over time.

    ·         Understand that weather observations can be organized, compared and predicted.
