In addition to lessons taught by classroom teachers related to getting along and solving problems, all students in Grades K through 6 will have the opportunity to participate in guidance discussions and activities. The purpose of these lessons is to foster effective social and life skills. Topics will focus on respecting differences, resiliency, empathy, friendship, decision making, communication and leadership skills as well as cooperation, sportsmanship, respect and responsibility.
Classroom Guidance Lessons in K, 1 and 2 will take place monthly. Lessons in grade 3 will occur 4 times in the classroom and 6 times during lunch. Lessons in grades 4-6 will occur 4 times throughout the school year during lunch. These lessons will allow students to reinforce and practice problem-solving and resiliency skills.
