A special treat for all 5th grades !!!!
WOW!  What a wonderful way to start our new school year here at Newtown Elementary School Library then with a great author. Trenton Lee Stewart, New York Times bestselling author of The Mysterious Benedict Society visited our 5th graders on Friday, October 16th and presented the just released and the third book in The Mysterious Benedict Society series, titled: The Mysterious Benedict Society and the Prisoner's Dilemma.
"These books are about four unusual children: Reynie, Kate, Sticky and Constance who meet in the most exceptional circumstances.  They have three things in common: they are remarkably talented, all honest and all alone. Their mission is a secret. To accomplish it they will have to go undercover at the Learning Institute for the Very Enlightened where the only rule is that there are no rules. There they must work as a team to save, not only themselves, but the world outside the walls. Fresh and funny, with unusual characters, well-paced action and didn't- see- it- coming plot twists make this a truly original read from a talented new author."

What a wonderful HONOR having Hudson come back to Newtown for the third time. This November, he brought more new and exciting books and art including the newest book titled,  River of Dreams: The Story of the Hudson River.
"Hudson Talbott's book brings to life more than four centuries of the Hudson River's history, an feast for the eyes and imaginations of young and old alike. It not only celebrates the past, it points the way to a bright and sustainable future for the Hudson Valley, with a new generation of environmental stewarts at the helm."
Ned Sullivan, President of Scenic Hudson

One of his other newer books told by author Jacqueline Woodson and illustrated by Hudson is called, Show Way. As the summary mentions: The making of "Show ways," or quilts which once served as secret maps for freedom-seeking-slaves, is a tradition passed from mother to daughter in the author's family.
