Dear fifth graders and families,
Welcome back! I hope you have had a fabulous summer and are getting excited to start fifth grade!
My name is Ms. Ficarotta and I am happy to be your teacher for the 2019 - 2020 school year. We are lucky to have
Mrs. Sheren as the instructional assistant in our room. Mrs. Southard will also spend time working with our class.
This will be my 12th year teaching fifth grade at M.M.W. My first eight years at Welch I taught second grade. I have two children. Jake is 21 and will be a senior at Kutztown University. Alexa is 18 and entering her freshman year of college at La Salle University . We have one English Bulldog, Red, who just turned 9.
This summer I got to vacation in beautiful Longboat Key, Florida on the Gulf of Mexico. My daughter plays travel softball, so I spent a lot of time watching games. I also enjoyed spending time with my friend Jim at his beachhouse on Long Island, New York. One of my biggest accomplishments this summer was selling my house! In my free time I love exercising, hiking, reading and shopping. I have been reading a lot of books. Have you read any good books this summer?
I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you. If you can, send me a short email to tell me a little bit about yourself. If you go by a name different from the one on my class list, please let me know this as well, (ie. Jack instead of John). Emails can be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org.
The fifth grade supply list can be viewed at the link on the MMW home page. I will see you on the first day of school, Tuesday, September 3, 2019 in room D6. Please remember to bring your supplies, a book you are reading and a healthy snack. I can't wait to meet you and your family!
Your fifth grade teacher,
Ms. Tracy Ficarotta
