• Curriculum

      • Science Units: electricity and magnetism, animal studies, and land and water.  We use kits instead of textbooks in Science.  Students are involved in hands on inquiry based learning. We will take notes and have several quizzes/tests.

    • Math – Bridges is our brand new math program!  This new material includes problem solving and the use of manipulatives for hands on learning!
    • Language Arts – Our reading program is called Journeys by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt.  Students will be using a variety of fiction and non-fiction text, along with vocabulary, to improve reading comprehension.  The program also includes word study, grammar, and writing, for a well rounded program.   Self-selected reading continues to be an important part of our reading program, both at home and at school.
    • Social Studies – In the first marking period we focus on PA history, geography and Lenape native Americans, followed by a study in all 50 states, broken down by regions.  We will take notes, complete research, and take several quizzes and tests per marking period.  A main focus will be on teaching study skills: organization of notes, taking notes, and test preparation.
