    #1  NEW STUDENT GROUP

    This group is for students new to Council Rock School District who would like to learn about activities and groups available in the school.  This is a great opportunity to meet other new students at CRHS South

     

    #2  FAMILY ISSUES

    This group is open to all students who have family members involved in substance abuse, dependency issues, mental health issues, major stress events, negative communication patterns, or are generally experiencing difficulties at home.

     

    #3  BEREAVEMENT

    If you have experienced the death or loss of a significant family member or friend, this group is designed to help you cope and deal with your grief.

     

    #4  EATING DISORDERS

    This group is for all students who have been struggling with any form of eating disorder: bulimia or anorexia.

     

    #5  FAMILIES IN TRANSITION

    This group will help students deal with issues of separation, divorce, and adjusting to stepfamilies.

     

    #6  MENTAL HEALTH AFTERCARE

    This is an important group for students who have been hospitalized and/or are in intensive private therapy and who feel they need additional support.

     

    #7  DRUG AND ALCOHOL AWARENESS & AFTERCARE

    This group is for all students who have been in rehab, hospital, or who have a sincere desire to be drug and alcohol free.

     

    #8  PEER SUPPORT GROUP

    This group is for students who want to discuss personal and family problems affecting teens today.

     

    #9  GLBTQ Peer Support GROUP

    This group is for all students who want to discuss the issues and learn about the challenges surrounding sexual orientation.

     

    #10  TOBACCO CESSATION

    This group is designed to help adolescents quit using tobacco.  The program not only builds skills and knowledge regarding tobacco use, but it also focuses on developing a wide variety of social skills.

     

    #11  INTERPERSONAL SAFETY

    This group targets adolescents who have been victims of interpersonal violence including domestic and dating violence. The group focuses on the ramifications of abuse (sexual, physical or verbal), the long and short term impact, positive and negative coping skills, and healthy and unhealthy relationships.

     

    #12  ADOPTION ISSUES

    This group explores the issues faced by many students who have been adopted.

     

    #13 MANAGING ANGER THROUGH RESPONSIBLE CHOICES

    This group is designed for students wanting to explore the styles of anger and the problems resulting from negative anger patterns of behavior. Group activities are sequenced to understand and practice skills geared to improve anger control, optimism, self-image, personal responsibility, and emotional intelligence.

     

     

    # 14 PREPARING FOR COLLEGE AND  BEYOND HIGH SCHOOL

    This group is for seniors who are preparing to graduate and enter college, independent living, work, and the outside world. Students will examine the changes they will need to make to adjust successfully. Skills will include exploring how to put limits on yourself, time management, responsible routines, etc.

     

    #15 BUILDING THE FRAMEWORK FOR PERSONAL EXCELLENCE

    This group is designed for students wanting to explore the tough issues and important life decisions they face today. Students will reflect upon and challenge their current beliefs, behaviors and feelings. Group activities are sequenced to understand and practice skills geared to improve optimism, self-image, personal responsibility, and emotional intelligence.

     

    #16  WOMEN’S ISSUES GROUP

    This group focuses on the problems facing adolescent girls and building skills that affirm their self-esteem, strength and resilience.

     

    # 17 COPING SKILLS

    This group is designed to offer information about depression and anxiety and help students develop coping skills. Students will meet others who face similar challenges. This group is designed to help provide information, develop coping skills, create support, and break the isolation often experienced by students suffering from depression and/or anxiety.

     

    # 18 DEALING WITH A FAMILY ILLNESS

    This 6-8 week group is for students who are dealing with the stress and uncertainty of a family member's illness.

     

    #19 EDUCATION AND SUPPORT FOR PREGNANT AND PARENTING TEENS

    This service is for pregnant adolescents, fathers-to-be and their support persons to prepare for childbirth. Caseworkers work with students to address: developing effective parenting, nurturing and communication skills, improving decision-making skills, and an introduction to resources essential to raising healthy young children.

     

    # 20 MENS SUPPORT GROUP

    This is a general support group for males experiencing stress, relationship issues, anger, and/or school concerns.

     

    #21 BUILDING SOCIAL SKILLS GROUP

    This group will assist students in learning and practicing helpful and necessary social skills. The three levels of social involvement are: routine or normal situations, problem or unusual situations, an enhancing situations to explore ways of creating a more positively involved social life.

     

    #22 Str8TALK ABOUT CANCER

    This group is for students who are dealing with the stress and uncertainty of theirs or of a family member’s cancer. (Gilda's Club)
