Wow !!!!!!! Brian Floca just won the 2014 Caldecott Medal for his beautiful book titled: LOCOMOTIVE. yippppeeeeeeee !!!!!!!!!

It's finally official BRIAN LIES is coming to visit our school on Monday, January 13, 2014. We are going to go batty when he comes to hang out with us at Newtown Elementary. We'll be hanging from the rafters, flying head over heels and swooping in and out of the library just waiting for his arrival in the New Year. Children are going to sink their teeth into his wonderful books as they fly off the shelves.

Brian Lies??? what's with the name, anyway?? Pronounced( lees.)
He was born in Princeton, NJ (a real Jersey boy). Loved to draw as a young boy and later went to Brown University to study drawing and painting at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, in Boston. Brian's career then moved into being an editorial and political illustrator, working with a lot of magazines and newspapers. In 1989, he illustrated his first book, Flatfoot Fox and the Case of the Missing Eye and since then has over twenty-five books both written and illustrated to his credit.
Brian presently lives in a seaside town in Massachusetts with his wife, daughter and two cats. Hobbies are bicycling, woodworking, and tending a big vegetable garden behind his house. Oh he also reads alot because it keeps his imagination going.
His books are delightful like More, Bats at the Beach, Bats at the Ballgame, Malcome at Midnight, and my favorite, Bats at the Library.  What a wonderful opportunity for your children to meet and listen to such a talented and excellent author and illustrator.
