• Our Council Rock 27 Kindergarten sight words are the most frequently used words in the English language.  Many of these words do not follow decoding rules and, therefore, cannot be sounded out.  Students who are able to learn these words by sight will establish a good foundation for beginning reading and writing skills. 

    You will also find an additional 21 words typed in red.  These are words that will also be introduced through the reading series that we will be using this year in kindergarten. 

    All 48 words will be worked on this year through classwork, homework, and reading practice.
