                       Welcome New Second Graders!

                                                                          
     
    Dear Second Grade Friend,
     
    Hello!  My name is Mrs. Dawn Doheny and I will be your second grade teacher this year.  Some of you I already know from first grade or from your siblings.  I am so excited about working with all of you!  I hope you are enjoying these last weeks of summer.  School will be starting soon and I can’t wait to see you!
     
    Second grade will be so much fun!  We will be taking many fun journeys this year and we will be learning many interesting things.  In science, we will be studying plants, solids and liquids, and more.  In social studies, we will learn about important people in history, the seven continents, and more.  We will be learning how to do some neat things on the computer.  We will read lots of wonderful stories and you will write wonderful stories. We will learn more about time and money.  Toward the end of the year, we even learn how to do a little multiplication!  Everyone in second grade becomes EVEN BETTER at reading, writing, and doing math!
     
    I am very excited to be back at school after being home with my husband and two children, Billy and Keri, for the summer.  Billy has just turned twenty years old and is heading off to West Chester University as a junior.   Keri is eighteen years old and is leaving for Happy Valley to start at Penn State University as a freshman.  I will miss having my kids at home!  But we enjoyed our family time this summer.  We went to Disney World and had an amazing time riding the Guardians of the Galaxy roller coaster, Tower of Terror, and Rockin' Roller Coaster! We have an adorable Havanese dog named Cooperl!  I'll share pictures of him as well.
     
    I can't wait to see you at Meet and Greet on Thursday, August 25th, from 3:00-4:00 in our brand new classroom, Room C-11.  Feel free to bring in any supplies you have that day.  We are close neighbors with Mrs. Stanojev's second grade class!
     
    As a reminder, don’t forget to bring your snack (AND water), your lunch or lunch money, and any school supplies with you to school on Monday, August 29, 2022!  I will be waiting for you in our brand new classroom in the new wing.  Yes, we have air conditioning!   I am so excited to meet all of you and work with you this year.  You can email me if you have any questions at ddoheny@crsd.org.
