Dear F4 Students and Families,
Hello and welcome to sixth grade! I am excited to be your teacher this year. We hope you are having an enjoyable and relaxing summer vacation.
Sixth grade is a great year! (Can you believe that you are already in your final year of elementary school?) As a 6th grader, you are one of the older students in the school, and this means that the younger children will be looking up to you to be a leader. I hope that you will lead by example. We realize this may seem a little bit intimidating, but I want you to relax, work hard, be responsible, and be yourself. There is a saying that sums up these qualities: “Be yourself, and be that well.” If you are able to do this, you will be an outstanding leader and proud of all you will accomplish this year.
I am Mrs. Smith and I am your homeroom teacher. We will spend most of our day together. I have two children, Brynn and Tucker. Brynn is about to start her first year of teaching 8th grade social studies and Tucker is a senior in college at the University of Delaware. I love to travel to National Parks and hike. I spent my summer doing both of these things. I took two trips in my camper van. The first was to West Virginia and my second trip was to New Hampshire. I am a Council Rock graduate and have been teaching at Holland for over 25 years. I am looking forward to meeting all of you.
On the first day of school we will have an opportunity to get to know one another, review expectations and set goals. To help us all get to know each other better, please send me a picture of yourself. I would love to have a "selfie" or a picture of you. Be prepared to tell us about yourself and share your picture on the first day. We will be writing about ourselves and hanging our pictures on our bulletin board. Please email it to me at asmith3@crsd.org (preferred), bring it in person to the Open House on Thursday, August 25 at 2:30 or bring it on the first day of school on Monday, August 29..
I am looking forward to working with you. We are going to have an outstanding and successful year together. Enjoy the rest of your summer vacation!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Smith
P.S. Bring a snack with you on the first day. We have a late lunch.
