• Dear Parents and Guardians,

I hope you had a wonderful summer!  It is with great enthusiasm that I introduce myself as your child’s second grade teacher! Please note, I am currently out on maternity leave until November. I look forward to meeting you and your child later this fall when I return! You will receive communication from my substitute teacher shortly.

This will be my seventh year teaching at Goodnoe Elementary School and my third year teaching 2nd grade! I have previously taught 1st grade, 4th grade, and learning support. I will be team-teaching with Ms. Nicole McLaughlin again this year. She is the special education teacher who works in our classroom throughout the day. Ms. McLaughlin and I have taught together the last 3 school year, and we have a wonderful setup in place that supports all of the students in our classroom. She is a wonderful asset and I am looking forward to team-teaching with her again this school year!

Second grade is such a busy year filled with fun and challenging learning adventures. You will be amazed at how much your child will grow this year.  Second grade is a time to experience important transitions and acquire many new skills and friends.

I hope you will be able to attend the Second Grade Meet and Greet on Thursday, August 29th at 3:00pm in C-13. This will give you and your child the opportunity to meet the teacher who is filling in for me, the other students in the class, and see our classroom before the school year begins! Ms. McLaughlin will be present as well and she is looking forward to meeting you and your child too!

Please view the list of supplies you will need for second grade.  Please send everything in already removed from the packaging and LABELED, thank you!  You do not need to label the tissues, wipes, glue sticks, or pencils as they will go into our “Class Pot”. We share the "Class Pot!"  Feel free to drop off your supplies at the Meet and Greet or send them with your child on the first day of school.

Teachers are provided with a bus list from the district prior to the start of school. Please be prepared to confirm your child's bus number or mode of transportation home with my substitute teacher in person at the Meet and Greet or via email. This is very important for the first day of school.

Enjoy the rest of your summer.  I am looking forward to a wonderful school year.

    Mrs. Danielle Lanzi
