    Claire Legrand
    November 23,2015
    Grades 5-6
Our first author is coming on Monday, November 23, 2015 and I can not wait.
CLAIRE LEGRAND, is coming to visit our 5th and 6th graders and will bring along with her some spellbinding tales. Claire, the New York Public Library Best Book for Children 2012 author, was born and raised in Texas, and has spent the last several years writing and working in Central New Jersey. She is the author of many books for children and teens, which include The Cavendish Home for Boys and Girls, Year of the Shadows, Winterspell--- and its prequel, Summerfall.  She is also one of four authors of Cabinet of Curiousities, and the new one Some Kind of Happiness.
"When not writing, she can be found obsessing over DVD commentaries, going on long walks and runs, and pretending to have a British accent. She thinks musicians and librarians are the loveliest of folks (because she is both) and though she loves Jersey she misses the big state of Texas. You know she's my kind of Gal.
    SHE WAS WONDERFUL!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Grades 1-2-3 are in for a real treat on Tuesday, May 3rd !!!!!!
I have invited Mr. Peter Catalanotto to visit Newtown Library and WOW us with his words and art.  A master painter and author plus being a true gentleman, Peter will be taking a trip down from New York to show off his craft and to give us budding writers and artists ideas on how to sharpen our skills.
Peter graduated from Pratt Institude in 1981 and began working as an illustrator for print publications such as Reader's Digest, Family Circle, Women's Day among others. In 1984 he began illustrating Young Adult book jackets and was encouraged to extend text with his pictures thus bringing new ideas to his stories. He has since published over 50 books for children. The first of his emerging reader series; Monkey and Robot was released in 2013, followed by More Monkey and Robot. He has illustrated for many wonderful writers including Mary Pope Osborne, Joanne Ryder, Megan McDonald, George Ella Lyon and Robert Burleigh among many others.
Happy to report Peter was wonderful and the children along with the teachers loved, not liked, loved his presentations during the day.
What a true gentleman and a perfect model for our children to learn from and follow his priceless advice.
