    President Lincoln issues a call for 50,000 volunteers to serve for 3 months to defend federal lands and end the rebellion.

  • Ft Sumter - First Shots fired by SC (mb4) (Teacher sample)

    On April 16, 1861, SC militia fired cannon at Ft Sumter to prevent Union ships from re-supplying the fort. After about 24 hours, the Union Army in Ft Sumter raised the white flag and they were allowed to vacate the fort leaving it to SC.
