I have been teaching in Council Rock School District since 1998.  I currently teach fifth grade at Goodnoe Elementary School for the ninth consecutive year.  In my previous experience I have taught at the fourth and sixth grade levels including learning support classes.  In addition, I have experience teaching in a private preschool and at Council Rock High School.  In the Fall of 2016, I had the opportunity to be the Interim Principal at Wrightstown Elementary School.  Prior to this, I attended University of Pennsylvania’s school leadership certification program and the Council Rock Leadership Academy.  I am very excited to be back at Goodnoe working in fifth grade class again this school year!  I attained my education certifications at Temple University, LaSalle University and Holy Family University. I also serve as a Tech Coach/Mentor for the Goodnoe Elementary school staff.

I thoroughly enjoy teaching mathematics and this school year, the Council Rock Elementary schools will be implementing the Math Learning Center "Bridges/Number Corner" mathematics program in K-5.  This program is known as a strong mathematics program for its real life application and problem solving strategies. In language arts, we are currently using the Journeys program with the addition of strongly encouraging independent reading.  Reading daily will have a profund effect on your child's progress in fifth grade. Another important skill in our ELA curriculum is the development of writing across all the genres including narrative, persuasive and informational writing.  In addition, I strongly encourage student participation in the other extra-curricular fifth grade activities such as the school play, Chorus, Reading Olympics, "You Be the Chemist" program and "I Run For Life" running club at GES. In the fifth grade Social Studies curriculum, we study early Native Americans, European explorers, colonial America and the study of government, including how the Declaration of Independence and Constitution were written.   As part of this study, we will be attending a few field trips to the Museum of the American Revolution and the Washington Crossing Historic Park.  In science, your child will study Microworlds, Ecosystems, Matter and the Periodic Table.

My husband and I have resided in Newtown, PA for over thirty years.  All three of our daughters attended Council Rock School District. My oldest daughter works in Advertising as a Group Creative Director in New York City, NY. She and her husband have become parents. We are all enjoying spending time with our little granddaughter, Cora, who is now three years old and her little brother, Rhett born in June. My second daughter is married and has recently relocated to this area and works as a Physical Therapist in New Jersey.  Her son, Nathan was born in the spring. My youngest daughter is married and also practices Physical Therapy right here in Newtown. Her sweet, one-year-old daughter, is Katelyn. Ken and I love to travel and just recently visited the Caribbean this summer.

I look forward to meeting all the students in our class and hearing their summer stories the first week of school!
