My name is Yana Gorbachinsky and I would like to tell you about myself and my goals for the incoming sixth graders, Class of 2026.
I am entering my thirteenth year of teaching. In 2013, I received my Master’s degree from The University of Pennsylvania in Reading, Writing, and Literacy. Prior to graduate school, I taught internationally: two years at a private international school in Italy and then four years in Singapore, which boasts one of the best educational systems in the world. Once back in the States, I was drawn to the Council Rock School district, where I had received my elementary, middle and high school education. I taught for two years at Newtown Elementary, then Rolling Hills Elementary, and am now pleased to be entering my third year at Sol Feinstone Elementary. In addition to traveling and teaching, I am passionate about reading, weightlifting, and dogs.
My goal for this year is to ensure that our students, who are on the cusp of adolescence and all its attendant changes, are equipped with the skills they need to become confident, responsible, independent, and free-thinking citizens. I employ a holistic approach to teaching that takes into account each young person’s unique strengths and needs in order to guide them towards reaching their fullest potential. As any time of tremendous personal growth is bound to be, sixth grade is a tumultuous and confusing, but also exciting and rewarding time. I look forward to meeting my students and supporting them in the process of becoming the young people they will be next June. Together, we will navigate through the myriad intellectual, social, and emotional changes that sixth grade brings, as we strive to have an engaging and enlightening year.
I look forward to partnering with you as we embark on your child’s final year of elementary school.
