Welcome to K-1 at Newtown Elementary School! My name is Mallori Barch and I am excited to be your child's teacher again for the 2019-2020 school year. I attended West Chester University where I got my Bachelor's Degree in Health and Physical Education, minoring in Adapted Physical Education and Health. I furthered my education at Holy Family University where I graduated with a Master's Degree in Special Education. I am currently working on my second masters degree in Advanced Special Education at Holy Family University. I began working in numerous roles within the Life Skills Support program since 2011 in the primary and intermediate classrooms. In addition, I have had the pleasure of teaching Primary Life Skills Support over the past 7 ESY programs in Council Rock.
I am excited for what we have planned for this school year! We will learn and practice skills such as: cooking, grooming, fine/gross motor, social skills, functional skills, handwriting, Language Arts and Mathematics. We also have a SMARTboard and classroom iPads that we will use daily! Your child will continue to participate in Community Based Instruction twice a month. This provides the opportunity to apply what we learn in the classroom into the community. After winter break, we will begin the Adapted Aquatics program at Council Rock High School North.
I will be sending a daily communication paper home each day so you know what we worked on and to keep you up-to-date on important events. A folder will travel back and forth from school and home each day. There is a supply list link on my Website. Please check to see what supplies are needed.
I hope you are all enjoying your summer! I am looking forward to another great year!
