LANGUAGE refers to understanding what is said to you as well as being able to express yourself in a clear and sufficient manner. In language therapy, we work on receptive language and expressive language.
Definition of a Language Disorder includes the following characteristics:
Receptive Language Characteristics: difficulty understanding directions, stories, and/or conversations
Expressive Language Characteristics: difficulty answering questions; using developmentally appropriate vocabulary; conveying ideas effectively, grammatically, and/or in logical sequence
