• Dear Students,

Welcome to 6th grade!  I am so honored and excited that I get to remain at NES this year.  6th grade is such an incredible year.  It is your opportunity to step up and be a leader at NES.  I can't wait to get started making memories that will last you a lifetime!

This year is going to be filled with new friends and exciting learning opportunities.  I am more than excited to meet you all!  Please join me at the Meet and Greet on August 30st, I would love to hear about your summer and give you a tour of your 6th grade classroom.  Feel free to bring your supplies on this day. I will  help  you get organized on the first day of school.  The PTO has provided you with a homework book, so there is no need to purchase one.

In order to get acquainted with our classroom family, you will each be creating an “All About Me” Poster in school.  Please bring in items unique to you (photos, magazine clippings, personal drawings, stickers, scrapbook materials, etc.) on the first day of school.  You will be sharing this poster with your classmates, so be sure to bring in items that represent YOU!  Also, please bring a healthy snack with you, as lunch is not until 1:40!

Also, please bring a book to read with you on the first day.  I have a real passion for books and reading.  I am currently re-reading "To Kill a Mockingbird" by Harper Lee.  This is the book that sparked by love for reading when I was in middle school.  I am over the moon excited to be able to share some amazing books with you this year.  Books that will move you and inspire you.  Our read aloud this year will include:  "Flying Solo" by Ralph Fletcher, "Wonder" by R.J. Palacio and "Number the Stars" by Lois Lowey.

Most importantly, I want each of you to know I believe in you, I trust in you, you are listened to, you are cared for, you are important and you will succeed!

I cannot say enough good things about what is to come this year and am thrilled to be your teacher!  See you all soon.  :)

PARENTS:  Please take a moment to fill out the parent survey.  It will give me the opportunity to get to know your child from your perspective.   Parent Survey

    Sincerely,
    Mrs. Ross
