Background:

My name is Jack Kelly, and I am extremely excited to be starting my first year at the Sloan School.  For the past six years, I have taught Algebra I, Algebra II, Pre-Calculus, and SAT Math at the Mid Valley Secondary Center in Throop, PA.  In addition to teaching math at Mid Valley, I was also the assistant varsity boys' basketball coach, a member of the Student Assistance Program Team, and a member of the PBIS team.  In 2013, I received my Bachelors of Arts degree in Mathematics from Bloomsburg University, and I have completed all credits and coursework and am set to officially graduate with a Master of Education degree in December from Bloomsburg University.

As a math teacher, I am obviously required to teach and assess students on a given subjects’ curriculum.  However, in my classroom, I hope to provide my students with an experience in which they learn much more than just math.  I hope to foster skills and characteristics that will help them become successful and contributing members of society. I hope to provide them with a comfortable environment in which they feel they can express themselves, share their ideas, and find their passion.  And, ultimately, I hope when students leave my classroom, they are in a better position to achieve lifelong goals.
