This Week for CR ARC
By Peyton Brillhart, Writing Team, Marketing Team
This is it, folks. This is the week where it all happens.
Our date of contact with the International Space Station is Thursday, December 5th. That’s this Thursday. Months of hard work, developing, building, and communication are set to pay off this Thursday at 12:56pm. Over the span of about 10-15 minutes, our very own radio satellite will be in perfect contact with the ISS, allowing for Ham Radio communication between the two stations. We will be making contact with astronaut Andrew Morgan/ KI5AAA who is currently serving on the ISS for a 9 month mission. Several students will be asking Morgan about his personal experiences as an astronaut, what it’s like to fly on the ISS, and how his education and training led to him being selected as an astronaut.
This contact is a very special opportunity for Council Rock South, as very few schools across the Nation get to qualify for an opportunity as unique as a space station contact. Over 30 students are a part of the CR ARC, and are all responsible for making the coming contact possible.
Everyone who has been a part of CR ARC has put in a great amount of effort for what is sure to be a successful contact that will remain a once-in-a-lifetime experience for all.
To experience the contact via Live-Stream, Join our Facebook Group! You can find us at Council Rock Amateur Radio
Be sure to tune in on Thursday, December 5th between 12:30-1:30.
