On Wednesday, February 5th, Dr. Wendy Troxel, a nationally-recognized licensed clinical psychologist and certified behavioral sleep medicine specialist, will present an informational session at 7 p.m. in Newtown Middle School’s Auditorium, entitled Snooze or Lose, Promoting Sleep Health in Adolescents.
Dr. Wendy Troxel is a Senior Behavioral Scientist at the RAND Corporation and Adjunct Faculty in the Departments of Psychiatry and Psychology at the University of Pittsburgh. A licensed clinical psychologist and certified behavioral sleep medicine specialist, her work has been funded by the National Institutes of Health and the Department of Defense, as well as private foundations and corporations. Troxel’s work has been widely cited by the media, including The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The Financial Times, ABC World News Tonight, CBS Sunday Morning, NPR and BBC. Dr. Troxel was also one of the featured sleep experts in the National Geographic documentary “Sleepless in America” and served on the Joint State Government Commission’s Advisory Committee on Secondary School Start Times for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Troxel’s TED talk on the impact of school start times on adolescent sleep has received more than 1.8 million views and is at the forefront of national and international conversations on this topic.
