• Dear Parents,

Welcome back to a new school year! This will be my fourth  year as the string teacher at Maureen M. Welch Elementary, and I look forward to working with you and your children in the coming year. I have been a string teacher in Council Rock since 2000, and this year, I will be dividing my teaching time between Newtown Elementary and Maureen M. Welch Elementary.

A little bit about me: I have violin performance degrees from Carnegie Mellon University and Ithaca College, and a teaching certificate from Temple University. Prior to teaching in Council Rock, I was a private violin instructor at a number of schools including Ithaca Talent Education, Corning Suzuki Strings, and the Academy of Children’s Music in Fort Washington, PA, where I also served as the performance director. I also spent seven summers performing and teaching as a member of the string faculty of the New England Music Camp in Oakland, Maine. Currently, I perform with the Bryn Athyn Orchestra and the Warminster Symphony Orchestra.

My twin daughters, Isabella (Bella) and Francesca (Chessie) are freshmen in college this year.  Bella is attending Carleton College in Minnesota, and Chessie is attending Franklin and Marshall in Lancaster.

As a family, we enjoy nature through hiking, biking, puzzles,  and bird-watching.  I also love to read and to cook!!

I look forward to a great year at Maureen M. Welch Elementary.  Should you have any questions or concerns during the year, please feel free to contact me at mbovasso@crsd.org.

Wishing everyone a wonderful school year!

    Michele Bovasso
