•  Dear Parents,

We hope that you and your family are well and adjusting to distance learning.  We are so proud of all of the wonderful work that your children engaged in during their first week of distance learning! They did a great job of asking questions via our Google Classrooms, and we were also happy to see them helping each other along the way!

As we begin our second week of distance learning, we have made a few changes that we think will make the process smoother for our students.  Each night at 5:00PM, our Daily Assignment Overview will post to provide our students a preview for the next day’s lessons, while also giving you time as a family to prepare for the next day.  This also works as a checklist for them to use to stay organized as they complete each subject.  Assignments in each subject will post daily at 9:00AM.  This will provide students with the opportunity to concentrate on one day at a time, and will allow us to help students with the current day’s assignments before embarking on the next day’s lessons.  We are also excited to let you know that we will be conducting “Morning Meetings” LIVE on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:30.  Only students whose permission slips were submitted online will be able to participate.  If you are not sure if you have submitted a permission slip for your child, please reach out to your son/daughter’s homeroom teacher. We will also be offering “office hours”, similar to clinic time beginning this Thursday at 1:00.  If you feel that your child would benefit from “face to face” time, you may want to encourage them to “attend”.

Lastly, if you are looking for anything “extra” to do with your children as they are distance learning, you may enjoy National Geographic’s Explorer Classroom. Explorer Classroom’s live video events connect students with National Geographic Explorers across all seven continents to bring exploration to life. These video events are free and open to the public, but you do need to register for them.  They are offered at different times each day. This link will provide more information… https://www.nationalgeographic.org/education/student-experiences/explorer-classroom/

Again, we hope that you are all doing well! We are happy to answer any questions that you may have, or offer any support that you or your children may need while they are distance learning.

    All the best,

    The Sixth Grade Team

Mrs. Brennan, Ms. McMaster, Mrs. Schneider, and Mrs. Todd

    Reminders-

Daily assignments will be posted in our Google Classrooms.

Do what you can.  There will be activities posted for each subject.  If you get to all of them, great! If not, it’s also ok. For those looking for even more, you may refer to the Distance Learning Resources on Council Rock’s website too!

If a platform for posting an assignment (Google Classroom, Seesaw, Flipgrid, etc.) isn’t working for you, it’s ok.  Do what works for your family, complete an assignment verbally, write it down and email your teacher a picture, get creative.

Don’t forget to check out our specialists websites for activities.
Specials: Library (Mrs. Moore), Gym (Mr. Donohoe), Music (Ms. Sokolowski), Art (Mr. Sturner)
Dr. Sandberg has posted some social/emotional activities.
Support and enrichment services will also be provided: Reading, Humanities, Math, etc.   Check the HCE site or look for an email from those teachers, for more information.

Ask questions, we will be available and are here to help. :)
