• Welcome to Gifted Support

    Meet the Teacher: Mrs. McQuillan
Hello everyone!  I am the Gifted Support Teacher at Churchville. I love that I get the opportunity to learn and grow with my students year after year.  We delve deeply into Social Studies and engage in enrichment activities. This year, in addition to Social Studies, we'll also cover the content area of Science at each grade level. Over the years, I've loved developing relationships with students, exploring new ways of thinking and looking at the world through different perspectives.  I am also a member of our Churchville Diversity & Inclusion Committee and School Wide Positive Behavior Support Team.  It's important for me to engage with all Churchville students and have a positive impact on our school community.

I grew up in Richboro and went to Richboro Elementary School, Richboro Middle School and Council Rock High School (before there was a North and South).  I graduated from Lock Haven University with my undergraduate degree in Elementary Education and have my Master's Degree in Education from Cabrini College. I taught in the Philadelphia School District at the middle school level for the first 5 years of my career and have been teaching in Council Rock ever since.  This year I celebrated my 25th year of teaching!

I LOVE to learn and seek out opportunities to participate in continuing education at the district level and through educational organizations.
    Some of my recent coursework:
    Smithsonian National Education Summit
Google Educator Courses Level 1 and Level 2 - Certified Educator Level 1
    Seesaw Ambassador
    BrainPOP Connect
    Newsela Summer Workshop
    Camp Engage!  Nearpod and Flocabulary
PSEA - Distance Learning Riding my bike this summer in Bucks County

My family is very important to me.  My parents still live in Richboro and they love to cycle long distances as much as I do.  You'll often find us riding through the hills of Bucks County on the weekends.  My brother and his family live in Canada and we visit them as often as we can.  My husband helps run his family's taxi cab company in Philadelphia. We have two boys (Joey and Owen), a dog (Chloe) and cat (Ella).  Joey is 21 and attends Drexel University.  He is majoring in Interactive Digital Media.  Owen is 15 and a 9th grader at Tohickon Middle School in Central Bucks School District. We enjoy spending time together swimming at the pool, going on adventures with the dog, watching Marvel movies and Stranger Things, listening to music (but we all have very different tastes!) and playing UNO.

This summer, I spent many weeks training for the Chicago Marathon in October.  I'll be running as part of the NF Endurance Team for the Children's Tumor Foundation. Owen has been cheering me on, always very encouraging and Joey runs with me whenever he's home from college. Thankfully, he visits home a lot! I'm very nervous about running 26.2 miles but also very excited.

I'm looking forward to the start of the new school year!
