THREAT ASSESSMENT TEAMS
Per Act 44, school districts must convene a team of individuals who proactively assess the conditions, policies, and procedures of the organization in order to prevent or reduce the chances that a potentially violent situation will occur. School-based threat assessment teams, CARES, meet on a regular basis with the common purpose of identifying, assessing, and managing students who may pose a threat of targeted violence in schools, and are usually composed of some combination of school administrators, teachers, counselors, and mental health professionals.
