What is the Property Tax and Rental Rebate Program?

The Council Rock Property Tax and Rental Rebate Program is based upon the existing Pennsylvania Property Tax and Rental Rebate program which has been in effect since 1971 and is funded by state lottery and slot machine proceeds.

Where do I get the Council Rock Rebate Form?

Those who qualify for the Council Rock Tax and Rental Rebate Program can apply using the form available at this link or you can obtain a copy from Council Rock School District offices at the Chancellor Center, 30 N. Chancellor Street, Newtown, PA.  

To qualify for this discount, applicants must have a household income of no more than $45,000 annually, and be:

  • 65 years of age or older; or

  • a widow and/or widower aged 50 years of age or older; or

  • permanently disabled and 18 years of age or older

The Council Rock School District is granting a 100 percent rebate based on certain eligibility requirements and income levels as follows:

  • 100 percent (maximum $1,500) annual rebate for Council Rock homeowners with a yearly household income
    between $0 to $8,000;
  • 100 percent (maximum $1,155) annual rebate for Council Rock homeowners with a yearly household income between $8,001 to $15,000;
  • 100 percent (maximum $460) annual rebate for Council Rock homeowners with a yearly household income between $15,001 to $18,000; and
  • 100 percent (maximum $380) annual rebate for Council Rock homeowners with a yearly household income between $18,001 to $45,000;
  • 100 percent (maximum $1,000) annual rebate for Council Rock renters with a yearly household income between $0 to $8,000;
  • 100 percent (maximum $770) annual rebate for Council Rock renters with a yearly household income between $8,001 to $15,000;
  • 100 percent (maximum $460) annual rebate for Council Rock renters with a yearly household income between $15,001 to $18,000; and
  • 100 percent (maximum $3380) annual rebate for Council Rock renters with a yearly household income between $18,001 to $45,000.

Q: What is the deadline for submitting a rebate application to the Council Rock School District for 2024/25?

A:  Qualifying applicants can submit a rebate application any time between July 1, 2024, through June 30, 2025.

Q: What is the time period that the rebate is effective?

A: The Council Rock Property Tax and Rental Rebate Program is effective from July 1, 2024, to June 30, 2025. 

Q: How long will it take Council Rock to process my rebate application?

A: Council Rock will process rebate applications within 45 days of the school district receiving the completed application and all required supporting materials.

Q: How does Council Rock issue the tax rebate?

A: Council Rock issues the rebate in the form of a check.

Q: Do I need to attach a copy of my school tax bill?

A: Copies of tax bills are NOT required.

Q: Will a bank statement be sufficient as a receipt of the amount set forth as required in Part D, line (b)?

A: Yes

Q: Is this school property tax rebate yearly or a one-time rebate?

A: The Rebate Program requires annual approval by the Board of School Directors.

Q: Who at Council Rock can help with the rebate application?

A: The Council Rock Business Office cannot assist in completing the form. However, the Business Office is available at 215-944-1040 to answer questions

Q: Is a form available for me to pick up if I cannot print one?

A:  Hard copies of the Council Rock Rebate Form are available in the lobby of the Council Rock School District offices at the Chancellor Center, 30 N. Chancellor Street, Newtown, PA.
