Overview
The Council Rock School District has a longstanding tradition of academic excellence and an unwavering commitment to high standards for our students. Our curriculum is a carefully designed set of educational courses and learning experiences intended to achieve specific learning outcomes in knowledge, skills, and attitudes. It encompasses a structured sequence of learning objectives, content, instructional strategies, assessment methods, and resources that guide the teaching and learning process. Our curriculum's main goal is to provide a cohesive and comprehensive learning plan that ensures students achieve the desired outcomes.
Our curriculum is informed by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania rules and regulations from the PA Code, Chapter 4 Academic Standards and Assessments, local School Board policies, and various national and professional organization content standards. We keep current in curricular best practices, research, and program information through the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE), Bucks County Intermediate Unit, the Pennsylvania Training and Technical Assistance Network (PaTTAN), updates on the Standards Aligned System (SAS) website, and various state, national, and professional organizations.
The Council Rock School District Frameworks for Success begin with a foundation of curriculum, based on a cyclical
process for review and renewal, to improve student outcomes while recognizing a return on investment in resources. The curriculum review cycle phases allow stakeholders to collaborate in the design, assessment, evaluation, and adjustments for a shared vision for student success. Quality control of curriculum is maintained by ensuring that the written curriculum is fully implemented in the taught curriculum, and the assessed curriculum measures the successful attainment of the identified standards in the written curriculum. The articulated process focuses on the needs of the students and the knowledge and experience of the teachers in designing instructional opportunities to meet the objectives and goals as identified in the standards of the courses and educational programs.
