Welcome to OUR Third Grade Class
for the 2019-20 School Year!
Dear Third Graders and Parents!
Hello! My name is Mrs. Young and I am sooooooo excited to be your teacher this year! I can't wait to meet you and find out all about you! I know we will have a fantastic year together sharing our ideas, talents, and interests.
Let me share a bit about myself. I have been teaching at Maureen M. Welch since the school opened in 2000! I have taught fourth grade and Kindergarten. I have been teaching third grade for the past twelve years and loving every minute! I have three beautiful children - Maggie, Jack and Aidan. Maggie will be starting her third year at University of Pittsburgh, Jack will be starting his first year at Temple University and Aidan will be in 10th grade at Central Bucks West High School. My husband, John is a high school history teacher at LaSalle College High School. We have a sweet cat named Angel.
We live in Doylestown. Some of the things I enjoy are reading, (Summer is my favorite time to catch up on all of the books I have been dying to read!) walking at Peace Valley Park or through Dolyestown, yoga and barre, going to the movies and shows, and swimming. This summer we spent time in Bethany Beach, Delaware and Ocean City NJ. We also traveled to Canada and finally got to witness the majesty of Niagara Falls. Summer is all about making memories!! I hope you have been enjoying summer so far as well. I am sure you will agree, it has just flown by. I can't wait to hear about your favorite parts of summer.
And......... I cannot wait to meet you on the first day of school, Tuesday, September 3rd. Now.... Here is your first homework assignment:
Summer Memories!!!! Please bring in one memento, photo or item that gives a clue about something you did over the summer. It could be a shell you found on the beach or a baseball if you went to Cooperstown,or a favorite
book - you get the idea. Be ready to share during the first day or two at Morning Meeting!
Parents, please send an email letting me know if your child goes by a name different from the one that appears on the class roster or prefers a nickname as I am working on their nametags, supplies and setting up our classroom. We will ease into the first week of third grade with the emphasis on team building, getting to know one another, basic assessments and routines that after establishment, will allow for a happy, smooth and productive school year. It's going to be a great year! My email is email@example.com if you have any questions or just want to reach out and say hello!
Enjoy these last few days of summer. They are precious! See you soon! Love, Mrs. Young
