NOTE REGARDING THE GOOGLE CLASSROOM CODE:  For reasons that are unclear, some of you are not getting the e-mails distributed through HAC, so I set up a phony, 1-question True/False Quia quiz that gives you the code in a secure way on a platform you are already on.  Just answer "True" and record the code.

Good Day!  I miss you and my wife misses me being with you even more!  Let's try our best to not make our family members crazy! I will be checking e-mail througout the school day, so if you need help or clarifications, please e-mail me.

This week we are going to be reviewing some observational and critical thinking skills we have been working on this year. You will be viewing a series of 10 videos, each a few minutes long, and completing viewing guides. You should be able to complete one viewing guide (which covers two videos) each day.  Please hold onto the video guides, and at the end of the week, complete the Quia Review (7A Switch Energy: Week 1).  Here are the links to the viewing guides:

Heads up: After many years, the website for the "Switch Energy" videos changed format, literally overnight!

So here is how we are going to try to resolve this.  The links in the attached viewing guides will not work.  Users must now log into the site, so I have created a single login we can all use (and hopefully it will allow all of us simultaneous access, but we'll see.)

Introduction, instructions and important login information are posted through the online textbook site.

    Week of April 20-24
This week we turn our attention to ecology, which is wonderful timing because this week is the 50th anniversary of the first Earth Day!

In the Pearson site, reading guides and slides have been assigned for Chapter 4, Sections 1 & 2 only, as well as an Earth Day Scavenger Hunt/Webquest.  It is important to review the slides and links provided because they have material not covered in the text.

There are two very brief Quia reviews for this week: one on the Earth Day Webquest and another on Chapter 4.1-4.2.  The last two Quia Reviews (that were due April 3 and April 17) will remain open until this Friday.

    Week 2: April 13-17
Welcome back from Spring Break!  I miss you and the energy of the classroom, our discussions and the madness of middle school.

This week you can officially work on Chapter 19.  The topic is a lot of garbage: (municipal waste): trash, recycling and litter.  One of my 4th grade teachers, Sister Francis Gerard, took a bunch of mischievous 10-year olds and turned us into anti-litter, recycling zealots.  I would be honored to achieve even a fraction of her success with you.

Below is a list of materials and assignments provided through the text book website.  Some of you have lost work started in PDF files.  I suggest you print them or save as a word file.  Use the reading guides to complete the C19 Qua review, due Friday.

    1. C19 Slide Set: Please review it in "presentation" mode and click on the hyperlinks embedded in the slides.
    2. Reading Guides for Sections C19.1, C19.2 and C19.3, and a C19 Vocabulary Review
    3. C19 Study Guide
