LEARNING IN NEIGHBORHOOD COMMUNITY SERVICE (LINCS)
Among the many service opportunities that our students pursue each year, the opportunity to earn LINCS hours is an important measure of the service our students dedicate to our larger school community. Students earn LINCS hours performing community service at non-profit organizations like Big Brothers/Big Sisters, United Way and other preapproved community organizations. After sixty (60) hours of service, students receive a letter from the Superintendent recognizing their service to our community. Students will also receive notation on their diploma for LINCS Service. Captured, below, are the number of LINCS hours earned by students ( and volunteered to our school community). The chart below shows the cumulative LINCS hours earned by our seniors in each of the past four years. As one way to quantify this service, the class of 2014, at simply the minimum wage, contributed $380,545 to our school community.
