Pennsylvania Free Enterprise Week (PFEW) is a one-of-a-kind summer program that offers in-coming high school juniors and seniors a unique and challenging opportunity to see what it is like to run their own business. Participants will make up an "imaginary" management team where they will learn first-hand about the Free Enterprise System. Their task - turn their failing company into a financial success! They will develop their own marketing strategies, design a website and in essence, make all of the decisions that are demanded of real life company executives.
The 2nd Annual PETE&C Student Inventors’ Competition is designed to encourage problem-solving, innovation, creativity, and ingenuity while making learning fun! This competition has two components:
(1) Online Virtual Competition where students will submit a 60-second elevator product pitch video describing their inventions. PETE&C judges will view videos and select the competition finalists, and (2) On-site Competition at PETE&C where competition finalists will attend the PETE&C Student Inventors' Competition at The Hotel Hershey, display their inventions, share their 60-second elevator product pitch with conference attendees (judges), and answer questions from them.
The Norm Brodsky Idea/Business Concept Competition is designed to recognize and promote exceptional effort, skill, and creativity among high school students. The competition is open to sophomores, juniors and seniors. Top prize for seniors includes a 4-year full-tuition scholarship. Sophomores and juniors can earn a $750 prize and automatic entrance into the senior competition when eligible.The chamber offers a variety of workshops and programs for high school students to learn about business.The Young Entrepreneur Foundation offers scholarships to your people who have demonstrated entrepreneurial spirit and initiative. The scholarships are valued between $2,000 and $15,000. Applicants must be seniors.The BizInnovator Competition offers cash prizes between $500 and $1,500 to high school students who can pitch an idea for a new business. Competitions are held in the spring and the fall.
PA Association of Educational Office Professionals (PAEOP)
Each year the PA Association of Educational Office Professionals (PAEOP) offers the Hermine Solt Student Scholarship which is a $500 scholarship for a Pennsylvania High School senior who is pursuing higher education in a business-related field (secretarial, office technology, accounting, business education). This high school essay competition is open to high school students in Lower Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Eastern Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties. Top essay are awarded between $200 and $1,000!
