WRIGHTSTOWN STUDENTS IMPRESS AT BCIU STEM DESIGN CHALLENGE COMPETITION
On Friday, March 8, 2019, two teams representing Wrightstown Elementary competed in the BCIU STEM Design Challenge at the Bucks County Intermediate Unit in Doylestown. After weeks of preparation, students had two hours to assemble their creative, environmentally friendly machine that was capable of moving three objects at least six inches across a table and able to place the objects back down.
The WES 5th Grade team “Aussie Awesomeness” included Claire Barber, Madeline Bradac, Keira Cantwell, and Roshan Hoban. This team won 3rd place overall and also were nominated for “Most Environmentally Friendly” and “Best Teamwork” for their wind-powered crane that removed debris from the ocean in one of the windiest places on Earth, Barrow Island!
The WES 4th Grade team “Puppy Pirates” consisting of team members Zachary Luber, Ryan Milheim, Eva Novick and Jack Steiner also were congratulated on their teamwork and their ability to create a well-designed crane. The students competed against over 60 other teams grades 4-5 from around the county. Congratulations to all WES participants!
